DC Sports includes an aluminum heatshield to block some of the radiant heat from the engine so the intake isn't pulling air that's 20 degrees hotter than it needs to be. It's not as effective as a sealed cold air box, but it helps manage intake temps better than a fully open filter sitting in the engine bay.
